Dodgers Drop the 3rd Game Vs. Padres ln a Bauer Gem

Once again Trevor Bauer had a strong outing to kick off the rivalry for 2021. Machado got the best of him by getting 2 hits off of him and later got another laser shot in the 5/6 hole. The Dodgers fell short but they walked away with winning 2 out of 3 and stretching their division lead for first place. The Dodgers could have walked away with 3 wins but they could have just as easily walked away with 3 losses. Let’s just hope we can figure out the pitchers the 2nd or third time around. The Padres are a team that are built for a marathon. The baseball season is an Ultra Marathon. Let’s check back in September when the season comes to a close and I sure hope that when the Dodgers win the division again, the wild card team is not the Padres. They are a strong team built for the long haul but can be strong in a short series. We saw some good things from our rookies and I am sure Roberts will be filing away this series’ results for future matchup improvements. Graterol was off a bit but he just came back to debut today in 2021 season. Let him wake up and get in gear. He will. He has the talent. Just needs the time. Let’s hope he is an improvement to Pedro Baez. This will be tough to do. Baez was super consistent number-wise over a 6-7 year stretch. So Graterol has a big mountain to climb to fill Baez’s shoes.

Another memorable thing about today’s game was Justin Turner’s getting dropped by an invisible sniper and having Trevor Bauer turn into an umpire and calling him safe on that head first slide. Dodgers also announced that Lux would be put on the IL and in his place Sheldon Neuse made his Dodger debut. He turned a very nice looking double play. He was picked up via trade from the A’s.
