Dodgers Add Another Arm in a 3 way trade

The teams involved in this trade were the Tampa Bay Rays, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers picked up Garrett Cleavinger from the Phillies, the Rays sent Jose Alvarado. The Dodgers sent Dillon Paulson and a player to be named later to Tampa.

There aren’t that many stats available for Garrett Cleavinger as he made his debut in 2020, where he appeared in only one game. However, it would be unfair to assess his talent and potential based on that one performance given that there was no minor league season and he must have been called on while not having pitched in a game for a while.

Here is a video of the kid in action a few years back so you can see him throw the ball. Garrett played for the University of Oregon and it looks like he has great control of his curveball. Perhaps there is a room for this kid to pitch out of the bullpen. If he can manage to handle some bullpen work, the Dodgers may have just scored a diamond in the rough.
