Current Opening Day Dodger Line up for 2021 and Their Cars

This is our current Dodger Lineup as it stands for Opening Day in 2021. These are the cars I imagine them to be driving to Chavez Ravine each and every day. If you could assign a vehicle to your favorite Dodger, what would it be?

Let me start by saying that this a Friday Night Fun piece not intended to promote any particular car brand. Neither car company nor the Dodgers have sponsored or paid for this piece. It is a fun piece. Enjoy.

It’s Tiiiiiiime For Dodger Baseball!!!!…..  And the cars they drive. Here is the line up assuming the DH stays:

  1. Mookie Betts, RF
  2. Corey Seager, SS
  3. AJ Pollack, LF
  4. Cody Bellinger, CF
  5. Will Smith, DH
  6. Max Muncy, 1B
  7. Chris Taylor, 3B
  8. Gavin Lux, 2B
  9. Austin Barnes, C

Starting Pitching

  1. Clayton Kershaw
  2. Walker Buehler
  3. Julio Urias
  4. May or Gonslin
  5. David Price

Here is a brief description stating why I matched up each player with each particular car. Let’s start with Taylor.

Chris Taylor, 3B

2021 Chevy Corvette Stingray.

This.car seems a bit small, but hey…it’s a freaking Corvette and doesn’t this guy look like he can also score a touchdown on an NFL team? He always looks wired and ready to catch a football in the eendzone, ready to do whatever the team needs.  Put him at shortstop, give him 3rd base, give him 2nd base or anywhere in the outfield and this guy will do the job. “Chris, we need a guy to run through that wall and catch a ball.”

“Coach I got this.” That is why Chris gets a Chevy Corvette Stingray. Congrats Chris Taylor.

Max Muncy, 1B,

2021 Ford Super Duty F250

Look at that beard! It screams F250. Muncy gets the Super Duty F250 because he has the power and he is reliable at 1b and can also move over 2B or to 3B. I will also give him a 2 seater so he can take his wife out on the town, and he can leave the kids with the babysitter. Sorry kids. This one is for dad’s night out with mom.

Bellinger, CF,

2021 Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD Spyder

I thought of a Range Rover because be plays CF and 1B, and believe me for a moment a 1980 Ford Pinto crossed my mind after that horrific 2017 World Series performance, but due to the fact that he had an MVP season and a couple of clutch home runs in the WS run, he got himself a Lamborghini Huracan and I am pretty sure he remembers all the ladies chasing Derek Jeter in New York City when he was a little kid watching his dad play in New York. I am sure all the ladies will now be chasing him like they chased Jeter as soon as he decides to shave that gruffy stuff on his face. Who will catch him? In this Lambo Huracan, no one will catch him.

Mookie Betts, RF,

Aston Martin DBS Superleggera

I first thought of the Mercedes AMG One, but it was a little over the top when I saw the price. With a big a contract he could easily afford it in a Dodger blue but I decided to change it to something more economical for him since the economy is a bit uncertain these days. I am sure even these athletes will be a little frugal.  So I decided to assign him a 2021 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera Convertible coupe because his wife might think that he is trying to run around like a single guy in the Super Sporty AMG. Plus the AMG was priced at about 3Million while the Aston Martin was only 300k.

Will Smith, DH,

2021 Jeep All New Gladiator

What can we say about this kid? He is a gladiator. He is new, he is fresh, just like this new different looking model by Jeep. I am sure Jeep is hoping that this new model catches on just as Dodger ownership and Dodger fans hope that Will Smith develops into the star catcher of the future.

Austin Barnes, C,

2021 Dodge Ram Rebel Crew Cab,

Austin got this American classic truck for all the heavy lifting. After seeing the career that this kid has gone through I am going to assign him a trusty old Dodge pick-up because this man went from playing behind Yazmani Grandal in 2017, to later getting sent back down to triple AAA, and then eventually playing awesome defense and catching the last pitch of the final out of the World Seres. He also did some heavy lifting to ensure that the baseball made it back to Dodger Stadium safely. So he gets the Dodger Dodge Special Austin Barnes Limited Edition. If they ever make a Dodger Blue edition this would be pretty sweet.

Corey Seager, SS,

2021 Ferrari Roma

For a special leader, a well known brand for the well known MVP free swinging smooth, power, and consistent hitter. He may not be the fastest man on the field but he has a super fast swing.. With a career WAR of 10.7, and a career average of .295, and an OBP of .362, the young star is bound for a big pay day. 7 years? 10 years? Who knows? But we do know that he will be able to drive around town in style in this Ferrari.

Gavin Lux, 2B,

2021 Dodge Challenger T/A 392 Widebody

Luxy will play it safe for now. He is yet to play a season as our everyday second baseman so Luxy will play it safe and get himself a Dodge Challenger. He currently still makes more money than this current part time blogger (me)but I bet that he will play it safe and save the Bugatti until after he secures a big paycheck but first he has to put in the work. If the Dodgers decide to save money this year, Luxy will be our second baseman this year. If they decide to spend more at second base, maybe they go after another free agent such as Kike, which they might. Otherwise they stay put, and go with Lux and see if he can produce given the chance. He is sure to turn heads in this Challenger.

AJ Pollack, LF,

2021 Chevy Silverado

When we think of a reliable truck, we have to consider the sporty 2021 Chevy Silverado. AJ is a solid player with lots of speed and plenty of power. He is currently the Dodgers LF for the next 3 years. There is no telling how many home runs he hits if the Dodgers play 162 games in 2020. He could have very easily hit 35 HRs. In just 60 games he hit 16 HRs. Do the math. AJ is an all-around player. Solid and reliable defense like the Silverado. Delivers power like the horsepower from a Chevy engine.

Clayton Kershaw P,

1969 SS Chevy Camaro,

What can I say? An oldie but goodie. Kershaw has class. He has style. A classic and a legend. It is the car that all men want. Classic American muscle that is already in the Hall of Fame of cars. Kind of like a Kershaw. A first ballot Hall of Famer. He has done it all. A pitcher you have to go see at the show whenever he puts his talent on display just like a 69 Chevy Camaro at a car show. It was a privilege to watch him operate in the World Series to get those 2 wins. We all knew he would keep it at 3 runs or less and he delivered. He is a reliable vehicle dressed in Dodger blue that guided us through the highway towards the championship.

Walker Buehler, P

 2021 Porsche 718 Cayman S

I almost went with the IAV Stryker https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stryker  used by the United States Army but I had to change it up and go with the Porsche because it would not look very pleasing showing up to work at Chavez Ravine in the IAV Stryker as it is a military vehicle. It would definitely be scary, kind of like his fastballs. I also like the name Stryker as a nickname for him as it is a perfect complimentary match for his first name. Walker “Stryker” Buehler. For now, the Porsche will have to do. Oh poor you.

Julio Urias P,

Nissan GT-R NISMO 2021

For finishing up game 7 of the NLCS and for finishing up game 6 of the World Series we got Julio a Nissan GT-R NISMO for its sporty look. Julio looks cool, smooth on the mound, crafty and fast whenever he wants. 0-95 mph in a split second. Sounds like a person who can maneuver innings for many years to come.
